Okay, so I've been working all day on finding a solution to this problem I'm having. I used DeltaPatcher to patch Sonic 3D. Ver 0.1 worked since I downloaded it as a separate file since some kind-hearted soul managed to release a patched version of Sonic 3D with Ver0.1. However, when I tried patching (a clean rom of) Sonic 3D by myself, everything was working fine. The original file was patched and I was good to go. But then, Kega Fusion starts actin' up tellin' me I don't have the right file type (it's a .zip file, by the way). Anyways, Clearly, I'm not doing something right here and I've searched high and low for a solution. My best bet now is to hope that a gentile being will stumble upon my tragic story of the most depressing of plights.
TL;DR I tried patching Sonic 3D and Kega Fusion doesn't like it when I do that...I think...
Oh, yikes. One easy way to tell if you have a ROM file is to rename it to .bin and run it on Kega Fusion to see if it works. If you need a different file, someone could assist with a source, or you could purchase the game off of Steam.
I think I'll stick with what I got.
Trust me, V2 is much better than V1. Still a little buggy, but at least you can beat it now. It’s up to you if you want the pre-patched one, because I can still do that if you want.
I think I'm gonna give up. The game still isn't finished, so I'd rather play the full thing rather than only the beta. And if I need my fill of Sonic 3D: Director's Cut, I still have v0.1 to go back to between now and whenever the game is finished.
Should I send you the link to the pre-patched ROM then, or do you just give up?
I don't know. I'm not getting any results from trying to patch it, and the amount of trouble I'm goin' through just to play an unfinished game is kinda mind boggling. If you ask me, I think Jon should just release the rom pre-patched like nearly every other rom-hack. So, in that case, I guess I can just wait until the full game comes out and then see if I can patch that, have someone else release a pre-patched rom (like someone did for v0.1), or have Jon, himself, release the game pre-patched. I just hope he reads this, 'cause I've seen other people have trouble patching the game, as well.
Sorry, anyways, do you want the pre-patched ROM, or did you patch it yourself?
Oops. Wrong account.
What website did you download it from?
Yeah, I patched the .zip and not the rom itself. Either way, I just extracted the rom. The rom itself is a .MD file. I'm running that into DeltaPatcher along with the patch for v0.2, but it keeps telling me that it's unable to patch due to mismatched checksums.
Or, if you want, I can upload the patched ROM to drive and you can download it. If you do, just give me a few minutes.
You must have patched the .zip file and not the ROM. Redownload the ROM, extract it, then patch the ROM.
You should not patch the zip file itself, if that is what you did. Instead, unzip the zip file to get the .bin ROM file, then use that for patching.
I downloaded the rom and it was downloaded as a .zip file. I'd downloaded it way before this Director's Cut was announced and Kega Fusion was able to play it just fine. Then v0.2 was released and when I patched it, it was a .zip file.
Question, why do you have a .zip file, and where did it come from?
Tried it. My computer keeps insisting that there's no files inside it to extract...somehow.
Okay. Extract the .zip file.
Checksums, eh? Well, I'm not too savvy on the whole technology thing, but I don't know if that'll work. See, My problem is that Kega Fusion, the emulator I'm dealing with says that my "zip file does not contain a bin, gen, md, smd or 32x file." So, I figure it's more the file type that's the issue.

Put the checksum in this thread.
I'll get to that real quick. I'll post another tutorial for you. I'm bad at explaining in text. Give me a few minutes.
