I'd love to see an extensive menu of toggles. An example would be having the choice to make the flickies act as they did in the original game. This will help people create their own ideal version of sonic 3d blast. I love how the game is looking, keep up the good work!

Sooooooooooooooo excited for this! Though I assume that what you‘ve showed us so far is all that’s gonna be the game, I’m eager to see more content from you, Sonic related or otherwise!

Since seeing the new trailer, i got an idea that is probably impossible but i'll throw it anyway for fun.
To highlight Diamond Dust as the "middle" (kinda) of the game, i imagined a short "cutscene" showing Robotnik/Eggman flying across the level and dropping exploding snowmen where we usually find them while playing, with the unused background music Boss (825 Beta) or BGM 12 in-game. It would look like he's preparing for Sonic's arrival with some ridiculous evil-ish music, setting traps while also showing us the boss early.
I'm so hyped for the release, it'll be better than christmas. :D

Even though i'd probably be happy with this too, i feel like having this ability as normal Sonic would kinda make the orange shield obsolete, and fast forward dash without homing would just make it hard to attack things since Super Sonic is already faster. Homing attack would be helpful on icy floors but i'm afraid simple dash would make it a drifting hell. SS need to feel like an upgrade to give you a reason to replay with it, i want to deserve my new abilities.
But that's just my opinion :P Maybe trying it could change my mind.

I like the new flicky rules, but I think it would be nice to preserve the old ones in a challenge mode or hard difficulty to keep parity with the arcade original.

How about a 1 square homing attack in normal sonic and a fast forward jump dash in super sonic that replaces it?

I think adding homing to Super Sonic only could be a good compromise because it would make his moveset more unique and help kill enemies since the higher speed of SS could make precise movements harder. Also it could be a reference to S3K Hyper Sonic's dash. However, i wonder if adding Sonic 3's insta-shield could be done, and if so, would it be useful at all?

I think a homing attack with a range of 1 square or so wouldn't really impact difficulty too much, having frustrating controls isn't really a great way to increase difficulty anyway, but we're not talking about a gameplay like sonic 4 where all you have to do is mash the jump button. It's just to fix the problem of judging distances in an isometric space and make the levels flow better. Jumping with the homing attack but from the wrong angle onto some spikey part of the enemy could be just as deadly as it ever was!

I realized that there are many people asking for the permanent ability of the Homming Attack, but I think this makes the game very easy, an interesting middle ground would be the suggestion of the member ToonReel001 that would add the forward jump dash but make it permanent.

Skychase2rebirth I love the idea of a subtle palette change for each act 2, it would make each act feel a bit more unique while not requiring much data on the cardridge! Also boss difficulty increase would be great to keep the pressure on.

I think the top of my list of suggestions/desires would be a No Save Mode for DX that doesn't feature the map and allows us to simply play through the game like the original but with all of the changes/enhancements for DX! This mode would have the classic lives/continues system.

Throwing some ideas for fun :P
-Having homing attack with Super Sonic.
-After finishing a time trial, having a grey transparent "ghost" of your best run. (until reset since there's no way to save it on cartridge, probably impossible ><)
-Volcano Valley Act 2 getting darker/bluish like Lava Reef Act 2.
-Using Green Groves' puddle splash sprites randomly in Rusty Ruin Act 2 to give a rainy feel like on Saturn.
-Diamond Dust's boss dropping more snowmen when almost dead.
-Gene Gadget's boss getting progressively more aggressive but occasionally sending a ring monitor among the spikes.
-Rusty Ruin's boss sending bouncy balls and raising hands faster near death.
-Volcano Valley's boss getting fire around him for a few seconds after getting hit so we can't hit him repeatedly, killing him under 30 seconds.
I can't wait for the next update video. ^^

I'd like to see at least one or two new levels! I know new assets can't be added, don't get me wrong, even an extra act on one of the existing zones or a new level that's a mash up of assets from the existing zones would be great.

Unrealistically, Tails and Knuckles playable and the prototype's split screen multiplayer readded. :P
Realistically, I suppose to maybe add a bit more variation to obstacles while still having layouts loyal to the original. Stuff like putting back in the crab badnik as well having the spikeball badnik 'un-spiked' in the first act and normal again in the second act are cool ideas that add a difficulty increase and freshness as you play through. Maybe have other badniks upgrade or downgrade too (like Newtron and Orbinaut did in Sonic 1 I guess), perhaps some move slower early on and become faster and more aggressive as acts pass, or have accessories or attack patterns modified. So same experience, but with more variation.
Also a minor one, but perhaps add the forward jump dash to the fire shield like in Sonic 3. Not sure how much that could break gameplay though.
Concerning progress so far, I'm loving most of it, may I suggest however keeping the Flicky's vulnerablity from the original though, your upgraded radar and more cooperative Flicky AI gives the player enough of a helping hand, while the original mechanics are merely being loyal to the original Arcade game and add more intuition. Keep the invincible Flicky setup for Super mode though, that's an ideal reward and is the time not having them scatter is a logical gameplay setup given how fast Super Sonic is.
Sorry this ended up way longer a post than I expected (fans get ugly when asked about free stuff :P). This is all probably way more complicated than it sounds on paper but it's really the best I can think of that hasn't already been done, the project looks great right now.

I was wondering if you could put all the special stages, both tails and knuckles, in the stage select, where you can play them again if you compete them ingame. You could add tokens in them for the players to get for 100% completion

I'd love to see Tails or Knuckles playable characters, Though I figure that might be impossible. I'd also like to see more uses for the Flickies. Like the ability to throw them, or release them at will. Or maybe a more difficult feature, where flickies will try to get back into the bots, and regenerate them.

I've played 3D Blast way back on the GameCube compilation title Sonic Mega Collection. Although it was a decent game, many elements of the original game made me come back to it less often than other Genesis Sonic games in that compilation. Seeing this Director's Cut patch definitely makes me interested in a playthrough because the patch might make the game a lot better than the original was. I love all the changes in the patch (Super Sonic, Map screen, Time challenges, etc.), though I do think emeralds should be limited to one per act like it was in the Saturn version.

Still remember getting like 3 copies of Sonic 3D Blast one year for Christmas as I had asked everyone for Sonic 3 to go with my copy of Sonic & Knuckles. At the time I actually hadn't been made aware of S3DB's release but got quite a few hours out of it regardless. Looking forward to revisiting the game once the Director's Cut is finished. I've oddly had the Rusty Ruins music stuck in my head the past couple days.
