Hello, first post. I personally have always loved Sonic 3D Blast on Genesis. It was one of the games that made me not care so much that all my friends had a ps1 or n64. However there was one problem that made it seem slightly inferior to the Saturn version, and that is the textured floors. I made a mock up using the colors from the dx file, and I was wondering if it would be to much to ask the genesis (even if just emulator) to do? There are no additional colors and it adds another level of detail. I truly believe this is the only thing holding back Sonic 3D Blast. If you could find a way to shoehorn it in to the next build I'd be greatly appreciative forever as a long time fan!
P.S. I love the fixes the DX has thus far. Great work
That's unfortunate. Considering on some screens the tiles make up more than 75% of the screen, anything added to them would boost overall quality in a very noticeable way in my opinion. Thank you for responding, however. It means a lot.
On another note, I think it was a shame nothing from Sonic 3D Blast showed up in "Mania." I noticed Christian and crew had S1, S2, S3&K and skipped over 4 (as if it didn't exist). That's interestingly similar to what fans call the "good Sonic games." But 3D Blast was good. I just wished it could have made it in to Mania somehow.
This looks great but if I remember correctly Jon lost the tools for editing graphics. It's still possible to edit uncompressed graphics though its kind of a pain in the ass. I believe the floor tiles are sadly compressed so I don't think we can edit them that way either.
Here is a mock-up with the textured ground, slightly remixed lives icon and smoothed text.
